Rosh Hashanah, known as the Jewish New Year, is a very holy day of the year. The festival takes place on the first of the Hebrew month, Tishrei, which is the seventh month in the Hebrew calendar. It is called tikrei, or head of the year since it falls during September or October every year. Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, ten days of reflection & repentance terminating in Yom Kippur, which means Day of Atonement in Hebrew. Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah are considered Jewish two High Holy Days.

In 2021, Rosh Hashanah starts on September 6, 2021, and ends on September 8, 2021. According to the Hebrew calendar, Rosh Hashanah starts on the first day of the seventh month. This means that the exact date of Rosh Hashanah varies every year. Most often, Rosh Hashanah occurs in October or September.
