A smartphone can be turned into a digital microscope in several ways. The best way to make a digital microscope is by using an attachment lens, like the ones that are used with microscopes. If you don't have access to an attachment lens, you can use your phone's camera and zoom in on the object. This is possible by using a few apps and following the instructions below:
1) Download an app that allows digital magnification such as Magnify or Microscope.
2) Switch to the camera mode on your phone and then switch it back to the photo mode. Make sure you have enough lighting in the room where you’re aiming your smartphone camera at an object you want to examine.
3) Zoom in on the object until it fills up most of your screen and tap where you’d like to start zooming in with your finger (you’ll see a magnifying glass come up).
As it turns out, a smartphone can be turned into a safe and effective digital microscope with just a few household items.
To turn your phone into a digital microscope, you will need:
- A magnifying glass (preferably 100x magnification)
- A rigid, flat surface to position the magnifying glass on
- Your phone (obviously)
- A clamp or some other way to hold your phone in place while you take images with the lens of the magnifying glass.
