Newgrange is a large complex of ancient buildings and monuments in the Republic of Ireland. It is most famous for the large stone structure known as the Long Room, which was built deep inside the hill and which is the only part of the complex that still has entrances through which visitors can enter and see the Sunshine through the roof on the Winter Solstice. Newgrange is a world-famous prehistoric monument on the banks of the River Boyne in County Meath, Ireland. It is best known for the sun-worshipping ceremonies that take place there during the winter months when the rising sun would enter the building and illuminate the inner chamber. These ceremonies take place on 21st or 22nd December and mark the beginning of the winter season.
