If you have an Android phone and like to use your phone to pay for things in stores, there are two main mobile payment options out there right now. Google Pay and Samsung Pay are the two big contenders when it comes to Android Pay in the United States. Both services are widely available, offer lots of different banks, and both let you store your debit and credit cards on your phone. So what are the differences between Google Pay and Samsung Pay? Samsung Pay is an NFC-based mobile payment system by Samsung Electronics, which is an adaptation of LoopPay (a product of the same company). On March 20, 2015, it was announced that the service would be rebranded as Samsung Pay. It supports MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) technology, which allows payment from compatible credit cards and debit cards at almost any point-of-sale terminal for contactless payment. Google Pay is a mobile payment system developed by Google. It is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or higher with near field communication (NFC) functionality. It allows the user to add their credit or debit card information to Google Play Store app, to make payments in physical stores.
