SpaceX trademarked the name Starlink for their satellite broadband network in 2017; the name was inspired by the book The Fault in Our Stars. SpaceX filed documents in late 2017 with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to clarify their space debris mitigation plan. SpaceX launched its first batch of 60 Starlink satellites on May 23, 2019. They lifted off from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on a Falcon 9 rocket at 10:30 p.m. EDT.
