The Scream films have been a long-standing horror series, with the first movie being released in 1996. The fifth installment of the series or Scream 5 is set to be released in 2022. The series has been made by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson and follows the story of Sidney Prescott as she deals with a new killer in her town. The films are based on the real-life murders committed by Michael Myers, who was also featured in John Carpenter's Halloween [1978].

The film centers on Sidney Prescott, who has returned to her hometown of Woodsboro after being away for several years. She finds herself re-investigating the murders of her mother and sister, which occurred exactly 10 years prior. The main characters are Sidney Prescott (played by Emma Roberts), Dewey Riley (played by David Arquette), Gale Weathers (played by Courteney Cox), and Sheriff Burke (played by Rory Culkin). The film received mixed reviews from critics. It had a budget of $40 million and grossed over $97 million worldwide. The Scream franchise is one of the most successful horror movie series in history. The first four films were made by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson.
