Educational group chat is important for constructive learning along with other Internet communication methods such as group chat and mailing list. Even UNESCO, a United Nations agency for education, science, and culture has acknowledged the needs of information technology for education. In 1997, UNESCO established its Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) to provide design and implementation of information technology in education around the world. In its report for the Internet in Education, IITE noted the importance of group chat for educational purposes.
